In the Marshall Islands 350 GT Master / 500 GT Mate Course you must possess a 200 GT Master of Yachts certificate or greater.
You must have completed 3 years’ service on vessels greater than (>) 15 meters, 1 year of which must be aboard a vessel greater than (>) 200 tons in the position as Master or Mate.

*Students sea time must be verified by Marshall Islands administration before being permitted to write the Marshall Island exams

Pre-requisites:
This is not a beginner’s course. Must possess a 200 GT Master of yachts or greater. Must have completed 3 years’ service on vessel > 15 meters, 1 year of which must be aboard a vessel > 200 tons in the position as Master or Mate.
Applicants need to complete the following:
- All parts of basic STCW
- OOW Navigation and Radar with ARAP (IAMI pass certificate)
- General Ships Knowledge (IAMI pass certificate)
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB)
- Proficiency in Medical First Aid
- Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) – 40 hour course
- Bridge Resource Management (BRM)
- Human Element Leadership and Management (HELM – Operational or Management Level)
An approved physical examination within the last two years. National ID document. Marshall Islands seafarers ID book.

Course Description:
The modules of the Marshall Islands 350T Master Yachts course are designed to enable the Master to understand:
- Legal Framework: The legal obligations for safe operations of the vessel in the context of duties in civil law and statutory obligations; and aspects of MI law necessary for the correct administration of a commercially operated yacht registered in the Marshall Islands.
- Ships Administration: The basics of administration and accounting practices involved in vessel operation
- Practical Stability: Stability basics with regard to safe operations of the vessel in normal, emergency and dry docking situations
- Safety Management: Vessel Safety management including an understanding of ISM and associated procedures and auditing requirements
- Bridge Resource Management: The importance of proper Watchkeeping practice and Bridge Team management
- Security: The application of security procedures and risks associated with vessel operation
- COLREGS assessment
There will be six external exams written on the last day of the course and below are the required marks:

Candidates who are not successful in one (1) of the exams must arrange to be re-examined in that section and obtain a passing grade in order to receive certification. Candidates who are not successful in two (2) or more sections must retake the entire course.
A candidate may re-take the section as soon as it has been determined that he/she has been unsuccessful in no more than one (1) section; however, in no case shall this be permitted more than one (1) year from the date of the initial examination.
